Towing hooks and towing eyes, sizes of which differ from the mentioned above, have to 

be replaced with new ones. 

When driving reverse, avoid trailer assembling against stop of trailer hitch in the frame 

girder face or other truck elements. 

Failure  to  comply  with  these  instructions  may  result  in  seizure  of  the  eye  trailer  in  the 

towing hook jaw and breakdown of the towing hook. 

When  passing  especially  tough  road,  snap  out  the  trailer  and  after  passing  of  this  road 

hitch it to the truck with the hoist.  With this remember, that on the cylinder shall stay three-four 
turns. Hitch the trailer at the middle rotational rate of the engine crankshaft. Do not tow the trailer 
with the hoist rope.

Trucks URAL-4320M are equipped with the engine YAMZ-536 with wide-duty ro-

tational  range.  Its  maximum  capacity  develops  at  ranges  2200-2300  min

-1

,  the  maximum 

moment at 1300-1700 min

.  For full implementation of potential truck towing performance 

upon  intensive  accelerations,  upgrading,  use  full  rotational  range  and  when  shifting  the 
gear, increasing rates up to 2200-2300 min

-1

6.4.2 Truck Towing 
 

Towing  could  be  implemented  on  the  bendable  (using  towing  cable)  or  tight  coupling 

(using towing devices, such as

or

triangular

), made according to GOST 25907-89. 

For towing and deditching of the truck with towing devices and tag lines (chains) present 

towing devises are used. Truck towing or its use as tractor shall implement in accordance with re-
quirements of the Traffic code and safety instructions applicable to organisations, which operate 
the truck. 

When towing on the towed truck with the non-working engine, the driver shall  choose 

the  neutral  gear  in  the  transfer  box.  The  order  of  neutral  gear  actuation  is  specified  in  the  para-
graph

4.2.4 Transfer Box

6.4.2.1 Installation of Towing and Auxiliary Devices.

 Implement coupling of the trac-

tor and the towed truck in the following sequence: 

- remove the towing cable from attaching point or tow “triangular” considering the mal-

function mode and road conditions of towing; 

- implement, if necessary, assembling of the towing device; 
- implement coupling of the towed truck with the tractor with the help of crew; 
- if necessary, bring air from the tractor to the towed truck, using the hose of the trailer 

tire inflation and the coupling head from spare parts kit of the truck. Attach hose with the threaded 
nut М16х1,5 to towing valve, established behind the first cross-arm on the tee of the tee air pres-
sure piping in the regulator, in accordance with figure 43, of the disabled truck, and on the second 
hose end erect the coupling head, which shall be installed on the tractor coupling head; 

- Upon malfunction of the emergency brake light, fasten the emergency stop sign on the 

rear side of the towed truck.  

6.4.2.2 Truck Towing with the Engine out of Work and Power Steering 

is possible 

on all types of road. Truck towing without the driver with the engine out of work and power steer-
ing is possible only on rigid tow of the type
