Checking the Oil Level of a Rotary-Vane Pump
To check the oil level (should be done on a monthly basis) of a rotary-vane pump:
1. Look in the oil-level sight-glass to see if the oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks.

2. If the oil level is below the MIN mark, add oil,

If the oil is cloudy or discolored, purge the oil to decontaminate dissolved solvents, as

During normal operation, the mode selector switch is set to high-vacuum mode
(turned fully clockwise) and the gas-ballast control is closed (0).
