Basic Operations

Shutting Down the GC/MS System

Thermo Scientific

DSQ II Hardware Manual

b. Switch the main circuit breaker to OFF (0), which turns off the rotary-vane pump.

Approximately three seconds later, the vent valve opens and the vacuum manifold
vents to atmospheric pressure. This takes approximately three to four minutes.

c.

Remove the DSQ II power cord from the wall socket.

4. Wait for the TRACE GC Ultra oven, injector, and transfer line to cool to room

temperature.

5. Power off all the remaining instruments.

a.

Power off the TRACE GC Ultra by switching the main circuit breaker to OFF (0).

b. Turn off the GC’s helium supply at the tank.

c.

Power off the autosampler (optional) by switching the main power switch to OFF.

IMPORTANT

The process ends here if you are planning to perform system maintenance

on the DSQ II alone (for example, to clean the ion source). You don’t need to turn off the
TRACE GC Ultra, data system, and autosampler.
