Maintaining Components Outside the Vacuum Manifold

Thermo Scientific

DSQ II Hardware Manual

7. Test the gas fittings for leaks.

Turn on the CI reagent gas supply.

b. Use a leak detector to check for leaks on the high-pressure side of the CI reagent gas

flow module.

Use the DSQ II to check for leaks on the low-pressure side of the CI reagent gas flow
module, as described in "

High Vacuum Symptoms" on page 135

d. Correct leaks by tightening or replacing the connections. Continue to check and

correct leaks until all connections are leak-free.

8. Reattach the left, top, and front covers of the DSQ II.

9. Restart the DSQ II.

10. Once the DSQ II has pumped down and is operational, check for vacuum leaks by

reading the convectron gauge and ion gauge and running an automatic tune.

Replacing the Conversion Dynode/Electron Multiplier Power Supply

To replace the conversion dynode/electron multiplier power supply, you will need a Phillips
#2 screwdriver.

1. Cover the work area with a lint-free cloth.

2. Shut down and vent the DSQ II, as described in

"Shutting Down the GC/MS System"

on page 18

CAUTION - INSTRUMENT DAMAGE.

Do not use liquid soap leak detectors (such as

Snoop) to check for leaks. They may contaminate your system.

WARNING - ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD.

Before proceeding. unplug the DSQ II to

avoid an electrical shock.
