Removing the Vacuum Manifold Cover
If you need to clean the ion source, prefilter, quadrupole, or ion detector, you will need to
remove the vacuum manifold cover first.
To remove the vacuum manifold cover, you will need:
• Gas, clean and dry
• Gloves, clean, lint- and powder-free
• Lint-free cloth
• Screwdriver, Phillips #2
• Wrench, Allen, 2.5 mm
1. Cover the work area with a lint-free cloth.

2. Shut down and vent the DSQ II, as described in
"Preparing the DSQ II for Maintenance"
.
CAUTION - INSTRUMENT DAMAGE.
Keep the vacuum manifold cover attached to the
instrument while performing maintenance. Even small amounts of dust on the electron
multiplier, conversion dynode, or quadrupole can cause excessive noise in your mass
spectra.
