Troubleshooting the CPU Module
The CPU module (item number 23478301-001-0) has nine LED indicators.
Table
4-4
shows the normal and fault indications and provides troubleshooting
information.

the CPU module.

Rebooting the CPU may
resolve the problem, but is
usually only a temporary fix.

Observe alarm indicator(s) on
other modules and troubleshoot
alarmed modules.
2.
Use the Alarm command to
determine the alarm type.
3.
Troubleshoot the alarm
according to the alarm type.
Power
Green
Off
Power failed on either A
or B inputs
DC/DC converter on
module failed
1.
Check Power indicator on other
modules. If they are lit, then
replace this module.
2.
If power is not available to shelf,
check rear panel fuses and
power source.
3.
Replace fuses as necessary.
CPU
Off
Red
CPU hardware failure.
Major indicator is also
red
1.
Issue the Restart command to
re-initialize the CPU. Restart
forces clocks into Holdover.
2.
If alarm persists, replace CPU
module.
SYS
Off
Red
System bus failure. A
bus driver chip has
failed on one or more of
the modules. Major
indicator is also red

Alarm is a system bus failure -
Escalate.
2.
Issue the Status command to
verify that all modules are
listed; missing module(s) are
likely to contain a failed bus
driver chip.
