2. Using a suitable driver, install the needle bearing

into the housing making sure the bearing is seated.



NOTE: Do not push the bearing too far into the

housing.

3. Install the pinion shaft and secure with the existing

48 mm nut. Tighten to 17.5 kg-m (125 ft-lb).

4. Place a punch on the edge of the nut in the oil

gallery area; then using a hammer, stake the nut to

ensure that the nut will remain securely tightened.

5. Install the input shaft housing.

NOTE: This procedure can be performed on a

rear gear case.

1. Remove the seal using a seal removal tool.
