SRS Residual Gas Analyzer
The VI takes a few moments before the scan begins in order to perform some initialization tasks on the
RGA. After this time, you should see a trace corresponding to the ion currents detected by the RGA as its
mass filter is swept. If the trace doesn’t appear after thirty seconds or you get an error, use the RGA
COM program supplied with your RGA to verify communications are set up correctly. Make sure the
power to the RGA is on (check the power LED), verify the COM port setting is correct, and test the
cabling.

Within LabVIEW, view the block diagram of CommExampleC (press Control-E if you are already
looking at the front panel of the VI). The figure below shows this block diagram. Please note that this
example is not meant to be a “starting point” to develop your own programs. Rather it simply
demonstrates some concepts used in the development kit.
