Option
Description
Bright
Sample
If the sample has a high intensity, but a low exposure time (less than 7 ms),
select this option to reduce the intensity of the light source for the wavelength
and prevent saturation of the sample. This option sets a default illumination and
intensity value in the Illumination Power field. Adjust the exposure time to
further control the precision of the sample brightness.
Note: This option is only available for certain instrument configurations.
Illumination
Power
Enter the illumination power percentage value for the wavelength. This value
affects the power of all intensity components of supported light sources
associated with the selected illumination. It overrides any intensity values set in
Configure Illumination dialog. See the MetaXpress Help for details.
The default value for this field vary according to the acquisition mode and the
Bright Sample option:

WARNING!
The ImageXpress Confocal HT.ai instrument uses a Class 4
high-power laser light source, which can cause materials to smolder or
burn, especially at close range. Dark materials, which absorb heat, and
materials such as plastic, paper, and fabric can easily be burned by
visible laser beams. See
for details on the Class
4 high-power laser product and specific warning and danger statements
for working with the external laser light source.
Note: This option is only available for certain instrument configurations.
Exposure
(ms)
Specifies the exposure time in milliseconds for the wavelength. Either enter a
value or click Auto Expose to automatically determine an exposure time. Use an
in-focus image to determine exposure times.
WARNING!
The external light source for the ImageXpress Confocal
HT.ai system is a Class 4 high-power laser product. Prolonged exposure
can cause plate materials to smolder or burn. If live-mode exposure is
longer than 30 seconds, the software automatically closes the laser
shutter.
Note: Check both the positive and the negative controls. If you use a dim
sample to set the exposure time, a bright sample might become
saturated.
