23. In the Focus dialog, on the Auto Focus tab, click Preview Pass to display a Preview Pass

image window that displays a graph of focus intensities compared to Z-position.

The top of the red peak represents the brightest pixel of the preview pass. The top of the
green peak represents the highest focus score. If there is no peak in the graph:

In the Focus dialog, increase the Start Position value by 1000 and click Preview Pass.
Repeat until you cover a range between 6000 and 10000.
If there still is no peak in the graph, move to a new area of the plate and click Preview
Pass. If no peak after you move twice and cover a z-range from 6000 to 10000,
contact Technical Support.

24. In the Preview Pass image window, click the trace line at the top of the green line of the

first peak. The graph X, Y coordinates display as a tool tip. The X coordinate is the value
for the Z-position, 8300 in the example.
