Entering the Plate Bottom Reference Objective Value in the MetaXpress.ref
Configuration File
Note: Only do this procedure if you need to complete Finding the Plate Bottom
Reference Objective and Reference Point on page 223 .
To enter the value for the position of the plate bottom reference objective in the
MetaXpress.ref configuration file:
1. Click Start > Windows Accessories > Notepad to open a text editor.
2. In Notepad, click File > Open to display the Open dialog.
3. Navigate to the C:\MX6\Hardware (or the location you used for a custom installation) and
select the MetaXpress.ref file.
Note: Make sure that the copy of the MetaXpress.ref that you open is in the
Hardware folder of the MetaXpress software installation folder (For example,
C:\MX6\Hardware) and NOT in main MetaXpress installation folder.
4. Click Open to open the file in a text editor (for example, Notepad).
5. Find the following line:
[system calibration]
PlateBottomReferenceObjective= X
where X is the position of the objective used as the plate bottom reference objective.
6. Replace the number at the end of the line with the objective position you wrote down. See
Table 8-3: Plate Bottom Reference Objective on page 223 .
7. Save the modified file.
Note: Do NOT use the Save As option in Notepad, as this causes a .txt extension to
be added to the saved .ref file.
8. Exit the text editor.
9. Continue to update the software settings. See
