Limiting the Current to Be Applied to the Device Under Test (DUT)
5.3 Limiting the Current to Be Applied to the Device
Under Test (DUT)
The current to be applied to the DUT can be limited (current limit function).
50 μA to 0.99 mA
10 μA resolution
1.0 mA to 50.0 mA
100 μA resolution
The charging time for the capacitive load can be shortened. It is also possible to reduce the risk
which the DUT can be damaged or destroyed.
The current limit value can be set manually or automatically.
When setting the current limit value automatically, it will be automatically calculated based on the
test voltage, the charging time, and the DUT’s electrostatic capacitance value.
Calculating formula

The DUT’s electrostatic capacitance value can be either set manually (MANUAL) or measured and
set automatically at the start of testing (AUTO).

Limits the current applied to
the current value set with the

capacitance
value
Limits the current applied to
the current value calculated
based on the test voltage,
the charging time (as set
by CHARGE TIME), and
the DUT’s electrostatic
capacitance value (as set by
DUT CAPACITY).
Use when you wish to
limit the applied current to
a user-specified charging
time for a DUT whose
electrostatic capacitance
value is known.
AUTO
Limits the current applied to
the current value calculated
based on the test voltage,
the charging time (as set by
CHARGE TIME), and the
electrostatic capacitance
value as measured at the
start of the test.
Since electrostatic
capacitance measurement
is the same type of
measurement as performed
by the contact check function,
the test time will increase by
the electrostatic capacitance
measurement time. In
addition, the contact check
signal will be applied to the
DUT at the start of the test.
Use when you wish to
limit the applied current to
a user-specified charging
time for a DUT whose
electrostatic capacitance
value is not known.
