3 Balluff Engineering Tool (BET)
3.1 Introduction
For IO-Link topologies, the Balluff Engineering Tool (BET) enables the configuration and commissioning of any
IO-Link device that complies with the IO-Link standard for sensors and actuators.
The BET offers the following advantages:
Simple and faster setup of IO-Link devices – even without PLC.
Shorter start-up time and fewer errors by saving and reusing IO-Link device settings.
Prevention of wiring errors and reduction of time consuming troubleshooting during PLC programming by
checking the IO-Link wiring beforehand.
Faster error detection by comparing the planned IO-Link topology with the topology existing in the field.
Greater efficiency – uniform software for Balluff IO-Link network block (for PROFINET and EtherNet/IP
bus) and all IO-Link devices and actuators.
3.1.1 Install software
The Balluff Engineering Tool (BET) can be downloaded from the Balluff website: www.balluff.com. Afterwards,
the installation process consists of following steps:
Execute installation file.
Start Balluff Engineering Tool (BET).
Generate administrator password.
Change language.
Log in.
Activate license.
