Name Signal Meaning
Device Discovery Blue, flashing 3 Hz
The Device Discovery can be activated via a
system command to find the BVS ID again.
Short Circuit Pin 2 / Pin 4 Red, flashing 3 Hz
Short circuit at pin 2 (I/O Trigger) or pin 4 (IO-Link /
SIO).
Teach-in No Object Red, flashing 1 Hz No code was found during auto setup.
Failure Red, static General error. The sensor is not ready.
Teach-In Red, static
The BVS ID is currently in teach-in mode (e.g.
teach-in of inclination detection)
Maintenance Required Blue, static
Maintenance must be performed.
E.g. threshold of the inclination is exceeded
(default: function is switched off).
Functional Check Orange, static
The BVS ID is currently parametrized / configured.
Measurement is not possible currently.
Overload Orange, flashing 3 Hz
Overload on pin 2 (I/O Trigger) or pin 4 (IO-Link /
SIO) has been detected.
Bad Signal Quality Orange, flashing 1 Hz
Poor signal quality, the quality of one code or
several codes is below the configured warning
threshold.
Out of Specification Yellow, flashing 3 Hz
The BVS ID e is operated outside of specifications.
A reliable measurement signal can no longer be
ensured.
Communication
Green, alternating with LED off in a ratio of
10:1, 1 s period
IO-Link communication is active. The BVS ID is
ready.
Ready Diagnosis On Green, static The BVS ID is ready. Diagnosis functions are on.
Ready Diagnosis Off White, static
The BVS ID is ready. Diagnosis functions are
switched off.
Firmware Update LED off The IO-Link firmware is updated.

It is possible to select between two different signaling standards with the help of a parameter. The parameter
defines which signaling standard is to be used:

0 BALLUFF
1 NAMUR
The parameter is reset by Application Reset and Factory Reset.
