2.4.10 Absolute encoder backup
All AC servomotors with BA II axis mount the absolute encoder. The encoder is backed up
with a battery, etc. to constantly monitor the motor operation even when the power to the
controller is shut off. This enables smooth starting without the need for return to origin when
starting the system or recovering from emergency stop.
NOTE
When the encoder type in the parameter (refer to section 13.4.14) is set to the
incremental encoder, the absolute function does not operate even if the backup
power is connected.
Installing the lithium battery
One lithium battery for encoder backup comes with each unit of this ROIbot. Put the lithium
battery in the battery holder on the top of the controller and connect it to the battery input
connector as shown below.
