Troubleshooting
9.4 Ethernet Receipt Printer Not Printing
There are mulitiple reasons that your ethernet receipt printer may not be
printing. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the printer.
1.
Ensure that the iPads are all on the correct network. In most cases, you should
be on the network that was installed with your equipment and will be labeled
POS - ‘Your Company Name’. Test that you have an internet connection by load-
ing a webpage in Safari. If the page doesn’t load, follow the steps in section 7.9
in this chapter to restart your router and pi.
2.
Check the paper tray to clear any paper jams and make sure the paper is insert-
ed according to the directions in the printer. Close the paper tray and hold the
feed button down to make sure paper feeds through.
3.
Check the back of the printer and make sure all cords are secure. Turn the print-
er off and back on again. Make sure the light on the front is steady and does not
read an error.
4.
If the error light is on, the printer may not be on the network. Follow the ether-
net cord from the printer to the router and make sure it hasn’t been unplugged.
5. Check that Print Queue is active. In the Paradise application on the iPad, check
the top of the screen where there is a small marker labeled PQ. It will be either
red or green. If it is red, follow the steps in section 7.9 to restart your pi, which
controls the jobs going to your printer.
6. Lastly, if all the above work but the printer still isn’t working, the printer may
have changed IP addresses. To check the IP address of the printer, turn the print-
er off. Hold down the feed button and while holding the feed button down, turn
the printer back on. Continue holding the feed button for about 10 seconds the
printer will print out a slip of paper listing its IP address. Check that this ad-
dress matches the one assigned to the printer in the Paradise app. This can be
checked by going to Admin -> Printer Maintenance -> and select the printer.
