• New mandatory Line Extension Shelf for 4FR NE type only.
— Support for OC-192 and Multi-wavelength Optical Repeater (MOR)
cards in the Line Extension Shelf. Slots 1-3 of this shelf are occupied
by OC-192 G3 (RX, DMX, and TX) and slots 8-10 are occupied by
OC-192 G4 (RX, DMX, and TX). Slots 4-7 can have MOR cards.
• Extension Shelf on Regen (Release 3.0 of OC-192 allows extension shelf
on the Regen). An extension shelf on a Regen NE Type that has OC-192
CPGs is referred to as a Dense Regen. The OC-192 CPGs are made
optional and their slots may be used for MOR circuit packs.
• Support for DOS switcher on all supported Release 4.0 NE types (LTE,
Regen, and 4FR).
Figure 28 on page 83 provides a Shelf Level view for an OC-192 Release
4.0 4FR Network Element.
