For the Alarm Log Monitor interface, the following operation is supported:
• Discrete/Continuous Alarm Retrieval: it provides a snap-shot of the
current active alarms in the system. The user can set up the filtering crite-
ria to be applied to the alarms. The alarm information that is output to the
client is in the form of one or more individual alarm reports. If there are
more than the maximum number of alarms specified, the client applica-
tion will be able to specify and retrieve the next “n” number of alarms (if
they are available).
For the Efd Control Monitor interface, the operations are:
• Event Retrieval on an Ongoing Basis: provides fault information for
subnetwork controllers (OPCs) and network elements in the network. The
retrieval of alarm information can be filtered to include specific Events
such as:
- Communication Alarms
- Quality of Service Alarms
- Processing Error Alarms
- Equipment Alarms
- Environment Alarms
- Protection Switch Reporting
- State Change
If the user specifies an empty filter, the FMBB defaults to all of the events
within the network visible to the building block.
• Alarm Count: provides an alarm summary count for each type of alarm
severity (indeterminate, critical, major, minor, warning), on a particular
network element or on a group of network elements.
• Notify Me Of Events: enables the retrieval of the alarm events from the
subnetwork Controllers (OPCs and MOAs). This retrieval of events can
be filtered to include the following Events:
- Communication Alarms
- Environmental Alarms
- Equipment Alarms
- Processing Error Alarms
- Quality of Service Alarms
- State Change Event
- Protection Switch Reporting Event
Using these services, third party client software can effectively monitor the
alarm information on S/DMS TransportNode and AccessNode, and ATM NEs.
