Resource Management Building Block (RMBB)

The Resource Management Building Block (RMBB) provides an integrated
SONET/ATM configuration management to be used with the CORBA
distributed computing infrastructure that is being introduced in INM
Broadband Release 4.1. This building block provides contract interfaces for
discovering managed SONET/ATM Network Elements, retrieving equipment
inventory data on SONET NEs, and providing termination provisioning
capabilities on SONET NEs. Figure 25 on page 69 illustrates the interaction of
the RMBB with the MOAs through the CORBA bus as well as the third party
Client applications.

The Resource Management Building Block provides several Contract
Interfaces and its functionality is separated into three functional areas:

Network Element Query/Discovery: provides the user with an interface
for discovering/querying the network elements in a network as well as the
ability to monitor the addition, deletion and modification of network
elements. The NEs that are supported as well as the attributes that are
supported for each of the NEs are given in Table 3 on page 70:
