Once the software delivery has been initiated, the user can then monitor the
status of deliveries which have been started, but not yet complete. The status
of software release deliveries can be monitored by admin-class and non
admin-class GNB users.
A history of delivered releases is viewed through the delivery history dialog
which provides the following information with each software delivery: the
release name, the name and IP address of the OPC/NPC to which the release
was delivered, the final status of the delivery, and the date and time at which
the delivery of the release was or was not completed.
Centralized Inventory Collection
Centralized Inventory Collection enables system administrators to verify the
network hardware baseline compatibility, before undertaking a system
upgrade. Inventory management can also aid system administrators in
planning and forecasting activities by providing an accurate view of the
equipment provisioned in the network.
The Remote Inventory Query dialog, illustrated in Figure 43 on page 109 , is
used to specify the search criteria when retrieving the hardware inventory for
an NE.
It is through the Remote Inventory Query dialog that a user may choose to
specify the Card Type and/or PEC and Release and/or Processor Load text to
be used to narrow down the cards being retrieved. If a field is left blank, all
cards will match that criterion. When the filter is applied, only the cards
matching all of the criteria will be retrieved.
The check buttons under “Confine search to” allow the user to choose one or
more NEs on which to perform the inventory retrieval. The user can select “All
NEs in Span” or any combination of one or more NEs. When the retrieval is
complete the user is then presented with the Remote Inventory Retrieval
display, illustrated in Figure 43 on page 109 .
Inventory data is collected from the NEs based on the search criteria and is
formatted and displayed to the user.
The displayed inventory information can be saved to a disk file, either for
export to third-party applications or for report generation.
