In a federated environment, INM unconditionally propagates alarm
acknowledgments performed on one GNB to all other GNBs that are running
on all INM workstations managing the controller. Once one user has
acknowledged an alarm from the alarm list, a field is added in the alarms dialog
of the GNBs which displays the username of the person who acknowledged the
alarm, the IP address of the workstation where the alarm was acknowledged,
and the time when the alarm was acknowledged. Also, no other users may
acknowledge the same alarm (in the same federation partition).
The user may also want to suspend alarm reporting for individual NEs. When
this option is selected, the INM Broadband temporarily filters out all alarms
(old or new) from the NE. If this particular NE belongs to a group in a network
window, an “NR” appears on the NE’s parent group.
A Problem Analyzer (PA) is also included and performs Intelligent Alarm
Filtering (IAF) which provides the correlation of alarms into direct detect and
related alarm events into a single Network Problem Report. The PA provides
additional information to the user by showing the alarm correlation results,
giving a probable cause description, and providing a NTP reference to fix the
problem. The reporting of the problems are done through a Problem Browser
Dialog that allows the user to view the problem reporting for the specific
network object selected. The Problem Browser dialog is shown in Figure 39
on page 103 .
