The protection control commands are performed via a Protection Control
dialog as shown in Figure 7 on page 45.
The Protection Control dialog can be launched by selecting the option
“Manage Protection Switch” from the object menu of a traffic link on the
GNB.
The Protection Control dialog will contain the full status of the traffic link used
along with commands that the user can perform on the traffic link. In addition,
the GNB must have full connectivity to both NEs involved in order for the
protection commands to be enabled.
Once a user has issued a protection command, a confirmation dialog will
confirm that the user really wishes to perform the task. The confirmation dialog
will contain details about the command that is being issued and will notify the
user that the command may affect traffic. After the user has confirmed the
command, it will be executed and the result (success or failure) will be
displayed to the user in a dialog. In the special case of lockout of working on
bidirectional systems which requires that the lockout command be sent to both
ends, the user will be reminded that an additional command should be
performed when a lockout has only been performed on one side of the traffic
link.
