110 of 202 Integrated Network Management Broadband Historical Overview
INM Broadband Release 4.1
PG OC 98-13
Issue 1.2
NE Type Symbol / Label - allows users the capability to distinguish the various
types of NEs within the network. The graphics are based on ITU, ANSI and
CCITT standards and allow the user to easily differentiate between an LTE,
ADM or Regenerator (S/DMS TransportNode NEs) and FCOT or RFT
(S/DMS AccessNode NEs).
Nested Groups - provides users the ability to nest groups within each other, in
any number of nesting levels, thereby removing the one level nesting
limitation. Users may create groups inside any other group or move the group
from its existing group to any other group.
Flexible Groups - provides users the ability to customize the appearance of a
group, where groups can have any polygon shape, and may contain any
number of network elements and/or other groups. Flexible Groups provide
users a powerful visualization tool whereby users can graphically display
system-level network components (e.g. ring systems, linear systems, and
geographic regions).
Annotations - allows users to annotate or associate text with any group, link
and NE to facilitate operation and system surveillance. Any type of user
definable information with up to a maximum of 10,000 characters can be
stored in each annotation.
Cleared Alarm Indicator - allows users to distinguish cleared alarms on the
network by viewing the alarm banner window.
Background Maps - allows users to arrange and interconnect NE icons on the
screen against a customized background map to match the physical layout of
the real network. This feature allows for quick recognition of NEs within a
very large network.
Improved On-Line Help - the INM Help has evolved to a World Wide Web
(WWW) oriented method and provides the capability to access the INM
Broadband documentation from within the graphical user interface. Help
information is available in HTML format, to permit access with a WWW
browser. The browser used is the International version of Netscape Navigator
which is provided with the Integrated Network Management Broadband
Software.
Real-Time Shelf Level Alarm - allows users the ability to graphically display
all alarms raised against an individual card or slot for a particular NE in real
time, thereby providing more effective network level surveillance.
