INM Broadband Release 4.1
PG OC 98-13
Issue 1.2
Figure 11. A DCW matched node connection
Since working channel 2 has been used to provision the primary path, the same
channel is used to provision the secondary path (D, B).
The new DCP protection scheme support that is introduced in INM Broadband
Release 4.1 functions the same way except that the protection bandwidth is
used for provisioning the secondary path, therefore, leaving the working
bandwidth available for other connections to use. This scheme uses the
protection channel that corresponds to the working channel used to provision
the primary path. For OC-12, the corresponding protection channel is working
channel plus 6 and for OC-48, the corresponding protection channel is
working channel plus 24. Figure 12 on page 51 illustrates a matched node
connection using the DCP protection scheme. Assuming that the ring in
Figure 12 on page 51 is an OC-48 ring, note that protection channel 27 has
been used to provision the secondary path because it corresponds to working
channel 3 that has been used to provision the primary path.
