INM Release 4.1 Planning Guide
PG OC 98-13
Issue 1.2
INM Security Access
All INM user accounts are assigned to a user class. The user class determines
which INM functions the users can perform. The four user classes are
“admin”, “surveillance”, “provisioning” as well as the new “layout” user class
introduced in this release. Users in the admin user class can perform both GNB
and GNE functions. Users in the surveillance and provisioning user class can
perform only GNB functions. The surveillance user class has been enhanced
to allow with the ability to perform a connection audit and view the results of
the audit, but not be able to correct Any mismatches found by the audit, since
it is still considered to be a view-only user. The admin and provisioning user
classes are capable of managing connections, however the provisioning class
can not correct any mismatches as a result of a connection audit, since this
privilege is reserved solely for the admin user class. Only admin class users
can schedule and cancel Electronic Software Delivery (ESWD) to the OPC.
The layout user class provides a user class with view-only access to the
Connection Management capabilities, and full access to all other area of the
GNB and GNE.
Customer Network Management
INM Broadband’s network display and access features can easily be
customized to address the needs of individual job functions, control centers,
and/or customer network management (CNM). This capability enhances
access security, improves management efficiency and offers a multitude of
service provider/customer benefits in conjunction with CNM.
Through partitioned access, an individual user or customer manages only those
systems that lie on a assigned area of responsibility (e.g. a specific geographic
region or leased facilities at a customer premises). Other network elements can
be viewed with full or partial access/display features, or completely excluded
from view. In addition, an entire network element group may be “locked” to
hide network details from unauthorized users.
Partitioned access also supports alarm filtering to allow alarm reporting to be
tailored for individual users. For example, a CNM user may not need to be
informed of environmental alarms occurring within the service provider
portion of the network.
Controller, NPC and NE Login Access
Both the GNB and GNE provide a way to login to the TransportNode and
AccessNode system Controller, and to the individual network elements in the
spans being monitored by the INM.
