Support for the Express CX Release 1.0 and 1.1 and the
OC-3 Express Release 3.1 and 4.0

INM Broadband Release 4.1, in conjunction with the Managed Object Agent
(MOA) Release 3.1, introduces the support for the Nortel TransportNode
Express CX Release 1.0 and 1.1 and OC-3 Express Release 3.1 and 4.0.

Express CX is a SONET add-drop multiplexer designed to be a low-cost NE
to provide services primarily for customer premises applications. Express CX
will support current feature sets available with Nortel TransportNode OC-3
Express.

Express CX does not support Network Processor (NP) circuit packs. Therefore
the INM GUI control over Express CX can be provided only through a NP
circuit pack installed on a TransportNode OC-3 Express. The Express CX
must be under the span of control of the NP on the TransportNode OC-3
Express NE to which the INM GUI is monitoring.

OC-3 Express Release 3.1 and 4.0 add a new Ethernet IMA Mapper (EIM)
circuit pack to the current TransportNode OC-3 Express

, adding LAN

interconnect capabilities.

This feature will allow users of the INM to perform the following:

•

Fault Management: all Express CX alarms as well as alarms and events
related to the new EIM cards on the Express Data are supported.

•

Remote Login: remote login to the Express MOA Release 3.1, OC-3
Express Release 3.1 and 4.0 as well as to the NPC card are all supported.
However, due to the fact that an Express CX NE does not support an NP
circuit pack, it must be under the surveillance of an NP circuit pack on a
TransportNode OC-3 Express in order to allow remote login to the Express
CX.

•

Centralized Software Management: Using the Electronic Software
Delivery tool from INM Broadband, software download from the INM
workstation to the NP cards via the OC-3 MOA Release 3.1 are supported.

•

Performance Monitoring: INM Broadband Release 4.1 provides PM
statistics from Express CX NEs and the Express Data Release 3.1 and 4.0
EIM card

Centralized Inventory Collection: INM Broadband Release 4.1, in
conjunction with the Express MOA Release 3.1, supports remote inventory
of alarmable circuit packs on the Express CX NEs. As for the OC-3

Contract Interfaces are not supported for the Express CX Network Element and the EIM mapper card on

the Express Data.

The EIM is not supported on the Express CX Release 1.0 Network Element.
