In Figure 12 on page 51, because the connection has been provisioned using
the DCP protection scheme, working channel 3 between the nodes D and B is
available for use, therefore, another connection can be provisioned on channel
3 between the nodes D and B. If the protection scheme had been DCW instead
of DCP as in Figure 11 on page 50, it would have not been possible to
provision another connection on channel 3 between the nodes D and B because
the channel is already used by the DCW matched node connection.
From the Connection Manager window which is invoked from the GNB, The
Tributary Selection dialog is used to enter the primary and secondary gateway
information such as the card type, circuit pack group, port number, etc. In
addition, a new section called “Protection Scheme:” is added to the dialog that
will have two new toggle buttons “DCW” and “DCP” as shown in Figure 13
on page 52. The new toggle buttons will only be enabled when the secondary
gateway information is being entered/edited for a matched node connection.
For a non-matched node connection, these toggle buttons will be disabled. The
default protection scheme of a matched node connection will always be set to
DCW.
