Issue 1.2

Workstation setup summary

If a new workstation is purchased from Nortel, the screen saver, swap space,
and file name settings for the HP-UX operating system are configured for the
Integrated Network Management Broadband Release 4.1. If your workstation
is not purchased from Nortel, or you are upgrading S/DMS Network Manager
software, you must configure the workstation setup options. (S/DMS Network
Manager to Integrated Network Management Broadband Release 4.1 software
upgrades only require swap space modification).

Screen saver

The screen saver must be disabled before installing the Integrated Network
Management Broadband Release 4.1 software. If the screen saver is not
disabled, new alarms cause an audible alarm, but the workspace does not
reappear. To redisplay the workspace, the user must move the cursor or strike
a key.

To learn how to turn off the screen saver, see the HP Visual User Environment
User's Guide.

Swap space

A swap space of 512 Mbytes is required for HP workstations running the
Integrated Network Management Broadband Release 4.1 software. The
workstation requires the space for optimum performance and future
expansion. The minimum real memory is 256 Mbytes for a non-federated
network and 512 Mbytes for a federated network. (The minimum real memory
is also known as RAM).

The swap space value is originally set during the installation of the HP-UX
operating system. For HP-UX operating systems already installed on a
workstation, you can modify the swap space value using the UNIX System
Administration Manager (SAM). To learn more about SAM, refer to the
HP-UX System Administration Tasks manual.

Disk Partition requirements

Table 43 and Table 44 provide the recommended disk partition requirements
that are needed to run the INM Broadband Release 4.1 software (GUI and
Building Block components co-resident as well as GUI only).
