E70 Series Instruction Manual
3.3 Tool Measurement
I - 161
(a) Normal operation mode
(Example) Carrying out tool measurement for offset No.3, X axis
(Note 1) Compensation amount is written in diameter value for diameter command, in radius value for radius command.
(Note 2) If writing the offset data is performed for an axis in which reference position return has not been executed, the
operation message "TLM axis not returned to ref. position" will appear.
(Note 3) When the parameter "#8924 Meas. confirm msg" is "1", the [Offset write] menu is highlighted and the
confirmation message "OK? (Y/N)" appears.
By pressing [Y] (or [INPUT]) key at this time, the measurement result is written as the tool compensation
amount, the highlight of the [Offset write] menu is canceled and the operation messages are cleared from the
screen. Also the measurement value is cleared.
If other than [Y] (or [INPUT] key) is pressed, the measurement result will not be written. At this time, the
highlight of the [Offset write] menu is cancelled and the operation messages are cleared. However, the
measurement value is not cleared.
(Note 4) When the parameter "#1124 ofsfix" is "0", the cursor moves to the next offset No. However, when "#1124
ofsfix" is "1", the cursor does not move to the next offset No.
(Note 5) When the parameter "#11017 T-ofs set at run" is "1", the tool compensation amount data can be set even
during automatic operation or operation pause.
(Note 6) If the measurement result exceeds the setting range of the tool compensation amount, the operation message
"Setting error" will appear and the offset write cannot be executed.
Carrying out tool measurement (Manual tool length measurement I: Measurement value input method)
(1)
Select the tool to be measured with manual
numerical value command. (Refer to "3.10 Manual
Numerical Value Command" for details.)
The tool to be measured is selected.
(Note) Select a tool without specifying offset No. If offset No.
is specified, measurement result may not be obtained correctly
(2)
Point the cursor to the position (offset No. 3, X axis)
where the measurement result are to be set.
The cursor is displayed at offset No.3, X axis.
(Note) In order to measure a different axis, point the cursor to
the axis to be measured and perform the following operations.
(3)
Cutting is executed in the longitudinal direction. (For
the Z axis, face turning is executed.)
(4)
The [Meas memory] menu is pressed without
retracting the tool at the end of cutting operation.
Measurement result is displayed.
(5)
Retract the tool and measure the workpiece. And
then press the [Work measure] menu.
The [Work measure] menu is highlighted and the cursor moves
to the workpiece measurement value.
(6)
Set the workpiece measurement result.
10 is set for the workpiece measurement value.
10 [INPUT]
Highlight of the [Work measure] menu is canceled and the
cursor moves to the tool compensation data.
(Note) Set a diameter value for diameter command and a
radius value for radius command.
(7)
Press the [Offset write] menu.
"Measurement result - workpiece measurement value" is set to
offset No.3, X axis.
