Firmware Update Changes

When upgrading an 8620, 8622, or 8662 phone, use the following version strings. For instructions

on how to update firmware, see “Updating Firmware“below.
• From 1.01S to 1.0.31

86xx_image_ver: 1.0.31 (where the 86xx indicates the model type, such as 8622)
86xx_image_url: 192.168.200.202/86xx/86xx_1_0_31.bin

• From 1.01S or 1.0.31 to 1.0.33

86xx_image_ver: 1.0.33
86xx_image_url: 192.168.200.202/86xx/86xx_1_0_33.bin

• From 1.0.33 and earlier to 1.1.5

86xx_image_ver: HWID 1 1.1.5
86xx_image_url: 192.168.200.202/86xx/86xx_1_1_5.bin
If upgrading an 8622 from 1.01S to 1.1.5, use the following image version string:

8620_image_ver: 8620 HWID 1 1.1.5.

• From 1.1.5 and earlier to 2.0.06

86xx_image_ver: HWID 2 2.0.06
86xx_image_url: 192.168.200.202/86xx/86xx_2_0_06.bin

• For future releases (2.0 and later)

itphone_image_ver: v.v.vv (where v.v.vv indicates the firmware version, such as 2.0.06)
itphone_image_url: 192.168.200.202/itphone/itphone_v_v_vv.bin (where v_v_vv.bin indicates

the firmware version, such as 2_0_06)
After a phone is updated to v2.0.06 or later firmware, the 86xx_image_ver and _url strings are

no longer necessary. There are only two lines in the configuration files that need to be modified

(itphone_image_ver and itphone_image_url), and one image to be put on the TFTP server to

update all of the multi-protocol phones (excluding the Mitel 8690).

Updating Firmware

Always upgrade all multi-protocol IP phones to the latest firmware release. This will minimize

potential conflicts when installing new phones at an existing site. The multi-protocol IP phone

firmware is available at

(http://portal.mitel.com/wps/myportal/MOLHome). You can

update phones or other IP devices using any of the following:
•

Onboard TFTP Server

: The MiVoice Office 250 now includes a Trivial File Transfer Protocol

(TFTP) server to provide firmware downloads to the Mitel 52xx/53xx IP phones, 5610 cordless

handset, and 8600, 8620/22, and 8660/62 multi-protocol phones. See “Onboard TFTP Server“

. The Administrative Web Portal interface is the mechanism used to get the firmware

to the phones, using the same method as to upgrade system software. Refer to the instructions

that accompany the phone-firmware package download.
