To install the SLM-8 module in a DEI chassis:
1. Put on ESD (electrostatic discharge)-protective gear and ground yourself.
2. In DB Programming, uninstall any module that may be in the bay where you want to install the
SLM-8.
3. Remove the physical module in accordance with the applicable procedure—trunk modules
require the
REMOVE
LED to be lit before the module can be safely removed.
4. Insert the SLM-8 module into the empty bay. The green LED labeled
ONLINE
illuminates, indi -
cating that the new hardware has been detected and the Single Line (SL) application is running.
5. Using the IP address of the Mitel 5000, open a DB Programming session to the system through
the System Administration & Diagnostics application.
6. When DB Programming displays, in the left pane select System and then Communication Server.
7. Click the
Uninstalled
bay and click the down arrow.
8. Select Single Line Module - 8 .
9. Program the SLM-8 module in the chosen uninstalled bay.
10. Click the SLM-8 folder and configure the ports.
11. Program the individual single line phones in DB Programming. For programming details, refer
to the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide
.
12. Connect and test the phones.

NOTE
The programming portion of the SLM-8 installation procedure may be performed in an offline
session of DB Programming and then restored to the system using the Database Restore utility.
