Motherboard Elements
Circuitry and components on the CS Controller motherboard provide elements that are essential to
the performance of the MiVoice Office 250, including:
•
System/real-time clock
:
Provides accurate
date and time for the system.
•
Built-in Network Clock Circuitry (NCC)
: The network clock circuitry provides the time division
multiplex (TDM) clock for the entire system. This circuitry is necessary specifically when digital
trunks (e.g., T1, T1/PRI, E1/PRI, BRI) are connected to the system. This circuitry allows the
system to synchronize the system TDM clock to the outside world (telco) and provide a smooth,
error-free clock transition when switching clock reference from one digital trunk to another.
•
Conferencing resources
:
Supports up to 20 circuits in multiple voice conferences. The system
allows up to five simultaneous four-party conferences or up to six simultaneous three-party
conferences at a time. However, conferencing is
not
amplified.
•
DTMF receivers
: Provides six resources that convert DTMF signals to digital codes for use by
the system. Used by the system when single line phones are dialing, when features such as
DISA and analog voice mail are being used, and to receive Dialed Number Identification Service
(DNIS) and/or Automatic Number Identification (ANI) digits for incoming T1
Ear-and-Mouth/2-way (E&M) calls. DTMF receivers are in use only while the dialed number is
being processed, not for the duration of the call. If all DTMF receivers are busy, the user may
try again. DISA users are redirected to the primary attendant.
•
DTMF transmitters
: Provides four resources for generating DTMF tones whenever needed by
the system. For example, when a user manually dials a number while on a call or when a phone
user uses one of the system auto-dial features (ARS, Call Forward to the public network, Station
or System Speed Dial, etc.).
•
Tone generating circuit
: Produces all of the system tones (busy, reorder, Do-Not-Disturb, etc.)
heard by phones, DISA, and automated attendant users.
•
Internal Modem
: Provides a dial-in modem that is accessible through Point-to-Point Protocol
(PPP) and capable of transferring data at speeds up to 33,600 bps. This modem is always
equipped and functions effectively as a system serial port over IP that the user must “call.”
Because the connection is established with a call, each modem application in a system is
assigned an extension. The default extension is 1500. For programming information regarding
the modem, refer to the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide
.
Processor Module with Processor Expansion Card
The CS Controller Processor Module (PM-1) contains the main controlling microprocessor and
associated control logic and memory circuits. The PM-1 is under the control of the IPR Application,
which is stored in flash memory and activated when the system is powered up. An optional Processor
Expansion Card (PEC-1) can be attached to the PM-1 to provide additional IP resources and increase
the system’s processing capability. See the MiVoice Office 250 Enginerring Guidelines for details
on when a PEC-1 might be needed.
A PM-1 provides the following system resources:
•
Database back-up battery
: (3.6V, lithium ion, coin cell rechargeable battery) Supports the
database for at least 1 day of continuous system down time. On the PM-1 module, the LED
labeled BAT ALM indicates the charge status of the battery. When the BAT ALM LED is not lit,
