During the upgrade, the phone LEDs blink on and off, and the display shows a message to indicate
which image is being upgraded and an estimate of how long the upgrade process will take from the
time it started. The phone resets after each image upgrade is complete. The upgrade time varies
depending on the number of phones undergoing the upgrade process at the same time. For example,
on a heavily-loaded DEM, the entire process can take up to 13 minutes to complete. Do not unplug
the phone until it has finished resetting and is fully operational.
If the firmware download process fails three times in a row, the system will stop trying to upgrade
and simply allow the phone to come online. The system will then attempt to upgrade the phone the
next time it resets (e.g., due to unplugging it or a system reset).
