Mitel 8600, 8620/8622, and 8662

Mitel 8600, 8620/8622, and 8662 multi-protocol phones operate the same as Mitel 8500, 8520, and 

8560 phones, respectively. These phones support IP Mode or SIP mode using 100Base-TX 

interfaces. All phones are configured to use IP by default. For details, see page 275.

The Mitel 8600 series phones include the following connections:
•

Headset/Handset Jack

:

 

Connects to a headset or handset.

•

LAN/POWER Jack

: Connects to an external power supply or a network hub/switch.

•

PC Port

: (Mitel 8622 and 8662 only) Connects to a PC or any other 100Base-T Ethernet device. 

The speeds on single uplink and downlink port are independent from each other and 

auto-negotiable.

•

LEDs

:

 

There are two indications on each port:

•

Link Status

:

 

When the link is valid, the green LED on the left side of the port is lit. When 

there is receive or transmit activity on the link, this LED flashes.

•

10/100 Mbps

: When the link is connected at a speed of 100 Mbps, the green LED on the 

right side of the port is lit. The MiVoice Office 250 operates 

only

 on 100Base-T LANs.

•

DRAM

: Dynamic Random Access Memory located inside the phones. Mitel 8600, 8620, and 

8662 support 8 MB, and Mitel 8622 supports 16 MB (only one slot is occupied). Although two 

DRAM slots exist, you cannot upgrade the memory by adding an extra memory stick. The second 

slot is not used.

NOTE

86xx multi-protocol phones in SIP mode are not supported on the MiVoice Office 

250 platform. See page 275 for changing from SIP mode to IP mode.
