MiVoice Office 250 Installation and Administration Guide

Install the external voice processing PC in the rack under the MiVoice Office 250 controller. If

the voice processing PC cannot be placed in the rack, place it in the appropriate proximity to

the rack. The distance is limited by the connection cable provided. As necessary, follow the

instructions included with the voice processing PC you purchased.

Attach the Ethernet cables from both chassis to the LAN, as shown in Figure 3 on

page 336

Use a switch if necessary; do not use a hub.

Attach the cable, part number 813.1806, from the external voice processing PC to the MiVoice

Office 250 controller.

Program the external voice processing system to connect to the MiVoice Office 250 controller.

For details, see the external voice processing system manual.

Use the Administrative Web Porta (AWP) pages to verify that Unified Voice Messaging (UVM)

is disabled.

Review and Update for Enabling a Voice Processor

The MiVoice Office 250 supports Unified Voice Messaging (UVM) and NuPoint Unified Messaging

(UM). And, for proper configuration, DB Programming requires that the voice processor type is

identified. After being connected, the system senses the voice processing type. Connection with a

NuPoint UM is over IP.

As with previous versions, a voice processor connected to a MiVoice Office 250 auto-enables when

the system boots up. To avoid the risk of overwriting an established database with default values,

Mitel recommends connecting the voice processor first, then connecting with a online mode session

of DB Programming, and then saving.

To save a voice processor database in online mode:

Connect the PS-1 or NuPoint UM equipment to the system in accordance with Mitel installation

instructions. Refer to the applicable installation manual.

In online mode, launch the System Administration & Diagnostics application and start a DB

Programming session.

Select the voice mail system to use.

NOTICE

External Voice Mail Inoperability

. If you have an existing external voice processing system

(NuPoint orUM ), you cannot use the existing cable to connect the external voice processing

system to the MiVoice Office 250. You must use cable part number 813.1806.
