Installation

System Restarts 

System restarts (reboots) are a normal part of the upgrade process and may take longer to complete 

than normal restarts. Do not interrupt any system operations during a system restart. If needed, you 

can monitor the progress of the upgrade process via the system’s USB-B port and a terminal 

emulation program.

Other Considerations

Consider the following when upgrading to v6.0 or later. Refer to the main installation manual for any 

information not discussed in this document. 
•

Hardware and Software Options

: Upgrading to v6.0 or later can possibly involve several com

-

binations of hardware and software depending on which version is being upgraded and which 

hardware options are being added. 

•

Upgrade Licensing

: A USB key or serialized compact flash-type card holds the MiVoice Office 

250 serial number for a system being upgraded. Licensing is uploaded from DB Programming. 

The license file, for either the USB key or the compact flash-type card, must match the serial 

number on the USB key or the compact flash-type card or the upload will fail.

System Administration & Diagnostics and Database Programming:

 System Administration 

& Diagnostics is a PC-based application that provides a single interface to quickly access all of 

the administration and diagnostics tools available on the MiVoice Office 250 system. Database 

(DB) Programming is installed as part of System Administration & Diagnostics along with other 

supporting system management tools and utilities.

•

Audio Stream Receive Port:

 When upgrading an older system equipped with a PEC-1, ensure 

that both the system and the network infrastructure are configured to use the appropriate audio 

stream receive port range (6604–7039) for the PEC-1. 

•

Remote upgrades not supported:

 Because the chassis LCD panel may prompt you to upgrade 

the NOR Flash and FPGA by pressing the middle LCD panel button, physical access may be 

required to upgrade a system.

Upgrade Option One — Replacing An Existing Memory Card

This procedure details replacing an existing v1.2 or later compact flash-type memory card with a 

new v6.1 or later compact flash-type memory card that ships with the latest core Linux file system 

and v6.1 or later release software already installed on it.

To replace an existing memory card:
