During the procedure, blood from the donor is withdrawn and
returned in several short cycles; each cycle includes a draw phase
and a return phase. The icon in the task zone indicates whether
the instrument is in a draw or return phase.
The first return cycle will return all contents from the plasma
container to remove saline from the system. Packed red cells will
be collected into the red cell container throughout the procedure.
The plasma and some saline are returned to the donor during the
return phase.
When the last draw phase begins, enough whole blood is drawn
to reach the red cell collection target. Once the target volume
has been reached, any remaining blood products are returned.
WARNING: Do not leave the instrument unattended
during a collection procedure.
WARNING: Remove and discard the kit if any fluid leaks
from it after it is primed. If you detect a leak in the kit at
any time, stop the procedure, do not reinfuse, and discard
the blood product.
WARNING: If the instrument is accidentally turned OFF
during a procedure, immediately isolate the donor from the
instrument by closing the clamp on the donor line. Do not
turn the instrument ON with the donor connected.
CAUTION:
The system monitors the weight of containers
hanging on the scales. Do not lift or pull on the containers, as
this may cause alarms.
