Hematocrit
The percentage of red blood cells in a volume of whole
blood or anticoagulated whole blood.
Hemolysis
Destruction of the membranes of red blood cells that
results in the release of cell-contained hemoglobin into
the plasma.
Hypocalcemia
A reduction of the blood calcium level below normal.
Hypovolemia
An abnormally decreased volume of circulating fluids in
the body.
Icon
Graphics displayed on the touch screen or instrument
that provide the operator with additional information or
guidance.
In-Process Container
The bag on the disposable kit that is placed on the
right-most of the three hanging scales. During the draw
phase, this container holds anticoagulated whole blood
that will be processed during the return phase.
In-Process Scale
The right-most of the three hanging scales. It holds and
monitors the in-process container of the disposable kit
during collection.
Isovolemic
Maintaining approximately the same fluid volume.
IVD
The Intravascular Volume Deficit is the net difference
between the extracorporeal blood volume withdrawn and
all fluid volume returned to the donor.
Jumbo Plasma Storage Container
Used for the RBC/Plasma collection procedure. A
programmed volume of plasma is collected during the
procedure and may be stored as a jumbo unit of plasma.
