Barcodes
Barcodes contain information which a center can use to collect
and track information about a donor, operator, procedure, kits
and accessory items used during a procedure. These items will
need to be barcode enabled. Please refer to the Administrator’s
Guide to enable barcode formatting.
For information pertaining to the various barcode symbologies
available for use with the A
LYX
instrument, refer to Chapter 7,
Specifications.
Please see Chapter 5, Troubleshooting if an alarm code is
displayed while using the barcode scanner .
Using a Barcode Scanner
To scan a barcode, hold the scanner 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm) from
the selected barcode. Pull the trigger on the scanner and point
the light beam over the center of the barcode, perpendicular to
the lines of the barcode. When the scanner accepts the
barcode, an audible beep(s) will occur.
To confirm the correct barcode was scanned, check the entry
field on the touch screen. An alarm will sound if a kit is expired
and a new kit will have to be installed.
If the scanner fails to emit a light beam or an audible beep(s)
does not sound, or a barcode does not appear in the entry field,
contact your qualified service representative
.
If the barcode scanner fails to read properly, touch the barcode
button to manually enter barcode information into the
alphanumeric keypad. Enter all numbers and letters displayed
under the barcode, disregarding any special characters.
Note:
The operator has the option to enter the information
manually if desired.
