Hanging Product to Weigh 

After the operator touches the 

check button

 to verify the kit has been 

sealed and the red cell storage containers have been removed, the 
touch screen will display the 

hang product prompt

.

Typical Procedure Information Screen 

with Hang Product Prompt

 

To weigh the products, perform the following steps: 

1.    Remove the plasma, red cell, and in-process containers from 

their locations on the hanging scales. 

2.    Hang one red cell storage container on the in-process scale. 

3.    Hang the other red cell storage container on the plasma scale.  

If necessary, open the clamps on the red cell storage 
containers and allow the red cell product to equilibrate, so 
there are approximately even amounts of product in each 
storage container. 

Note:

 

 

If there is a large volume difference (> 10 mL) between the 

two red cell storage containers, as indicated by their volume 
readings, open the clamps on both containers and equilibrate the 
bags to ensure that each product meets the minimum volume 
requirements.  Close the clamps to the storage containers when 
equilibration is complete. 

Note:  

Do not pull unnecessarily on the containers as they are 

hanging from the scales.
