Kit Tray

A plastic container that holds the components of the

disposable kit. The tray can be recycled.

Leak Detector

The brown strip located in the centrifuge compartment

that senses the presence of fluid in the compartment.

Leukocyte

White blood cell.

Leukoreduction

The process of removing white blood cells from the red

cell product.

Leukoreduction Filter

A filter designed to remove the white blood cells from

the red cell product.

Leukoreduction Filter Fixture

The fixture that holds the Red Cell leukoreduction filter

during a procedure.

Lipemia

Presence of an abnormally high concentration of fat or

lipid in the blood.

Optical Sensors

An optical sensor located immediately outside the

centrifuge that monitors the separation process.

Pause

Temporarily stopping the procedure.

Plasma

The liquid portion of blood.

Plasma Container

The bag on the disposable kit that is placed on the

left-most hanging scale of the instrument. This container

holds plasma after it has been separated from the red cells

in the separation chamber until it can be reinfused to the

donor during a return phase.
