Collection Time
The total procedure time, measured in minutes.
Collection time begins when the operator touches the
start button
and ends at the completion of the final return
phase.
Connection Ports
There are five or six access ports on the rear of the
instrument depending on the model number. Three ports
allow for the connection of the pressure cuff, Ethernet
line, and bar code scanner. The USB port is not currently
enabled. The remaining two ports are accessed by
qualified service representatives for diagnostic, calibration
and vent purposes.
Cuff Pressure
The amount of pressure being applied to the donor’s arm,
measured in mmHg. The pressure cuff automatically
inflates during a draw phase, and may be used to assist in
venipuncture.
Data Zone
The lower left portion of the touch screen used to input
and display information about the donor and procedure.
Donor Line
The part of the disposable kit that goes from the needle
to the cassette. This line contains the donor’s whole
blood during draw phases, and blood components going
back to the donor during return phases.
Donor Prompts
Signals on both sides of the instrument that inform the
donor to squeeze their fist during draw phases.
Donor Safety Clamp
A spring-loaded clamp, found just above the air detectors,
that isolates the donor from the instrument during alarms
and any time the STOP button is touched.
