Function Description of the Circle Absorption System

Manual Ventilation: General

During manual ventilation, the APL valve is set to the "MAN" position. The safety valve 
of the patient system is activated. Only the warnings/alarms for the lower O

2

 limit and 

the upper airway pressure limit (Paw) are enabled.

Manual Ventilation: Inspiration

When the clinician compresses the breathing bag

, the gas mixture (expiratory and 

fresh gas) flows through the absorber

, the open fresh-gas decoupling valve

, the 

open inspiratory valve

, the inspiratory hose

, and through the Y-piece

 into the 

lung
