Tutorial - Measurements Using the Cursor
372 User Manual
1Ć37
In the following examples we show how to measure semiconductor parameĆ
ters, or how to obtain an absolute value from a characteristic curve, using
SLOPE, GAIN and DOT cursors. For examples of using XGONOGO and
YGONOGO cursors, refer to Example 3 in Programming Examples of
372ĆBased Programming.
H
Slope of the base current from IC&IB vs. VBE curve of a BJT.
H
Gain of a BJT, calculated from its IC vs. VCE curves.
H
Transconductance gm from the ID vs. VGS curve of a FET.
H
Absolute current value at a specified voltage for the forward breakdown
curve of a DIODE.
In each of these examples, the settings and measured curves are shown in
the figures. They can also be obtained from the disk supplied with the
manual.
To measure curves for each example, mount the device in the test fixture
wire the patch cords, shown in Figure 1Ć9 for the FET or in Figure 1Ć31 and
Figure 1Ć32 for the BJT and DIODE.
Then follow the procedures described in Recalling Settings in Example 2 for
loading the settings from a disk file and executing a measurement, and
replace the directory and setup file name with those indicated in this section.
If you can not find the setup file name in the FILE/DIR List in Recalling SetĆ
tings in Example 2, turn the general purpose knob clockwise or counterĆ
clockwise. When you move one directory to another, \FET to \BJT, first move
\FET to \, then move \ to BJT.
