Floppy Disk System
Reference
3Ć128
A file that is not contained in the current working directory must be specified
using a path name such as
\AA\BB\DA
In addition, a relative path name that uses the current working directory can
be used as in
..\AA\BB\DA
.\CC\EB
or just
CC\EB
The .." symbol indicates the higher level, or parent directory. It indicates
that the directory tree should be traversed in the opposite direction. The ."
symbol, which indicates a current working directory, can be omitted accordĆ
ing to the MSĆDOS file system convention.
In contrast to this relative path expression, a full path name starting with the
root directory is referred to as an absolute path expression or complete path
expression.
File Name
A file or directory name consists of a base name of up to 8 characters and
an extension of up to 3 characters (xxxxxxxx.nnn).
The file extension is used to indicate the characteristic of a file, or to sepaĆ
rate related files into groups. The instrument uses only the following six file
types with corresponding extensions as in:
.SET
- Setup file that stores settings for the menu.
.DAT
- Curve file that stores curves.
.PRG - Program file that stores program.
.TIF
- Hardcopy file that stores the CRT hardcopy information
in TIFF format.
.ESC
- Hardcopy file that stores the CRT hardcopy information
in a format that can be recognized by a printer with
ESC/P.
.HPG - Plot data file that stores the CRT hardcopy information
or curve data in the format that can be recognized by a
HPGL plotter.
A file does not always need a file name extension. In fact, directory names
are not usually given extensions. The 372 does not support extensions for
directory names, only base names.
Reference of Files and Directories
A reference of the files and directories is always made using FILE/DIR List or
File List in the menu as shown in Figure 3Ć58.
