Appendix C: Calibration and Diagnostics
This appendix contains procedures for:
H
Calibration
H
Reference Voltage Adjustment
H
Self Diagnostics
The 372 has these two calibration modes:normal calibration which corrects
offset drift, and extended calibration and reference voltage adjustment which
corrects offset drift and gain, and adjusts the reference voltage.
You can perform a normal calibration at any time. We recommend that it be
done:
H
After the instrument has warmed up. The circuits are stabilized about 40
minutes after powerĆup.
H
When the internal operating temperature has changed considerably
since the last calibration. When the internal operating temperature
changes by
±
5
_
C, the 372 displays the message Recalibrate due to
temperature variation" in the message display zone of the CRT.
H
Prior to performing a measurement that requires the highest possible
level of accuracy.
NOTE
The reference voltage adjustment is intended to be carried out only
by a qualified service technician.
You should perform an extended calibration and reference voltage adjustĆ
ment at least every 2000 hours of operation (about once a year) to ensure
accurate measurement.
NOTE
The self test described here is intended to be carried out by TektroĆ
nix service representatives at the time of shipment, repair or mainteĆ
nance with the exception of the CRT video printer calibration. If any
troubles occur in this instrument, contact your Tektronix representaĆ
tive.
