372ĆBased Programming
Reference

Single Step Mode
In singleĆstep mode one instruction statement is executed at a time. When
an instruction statement is executed, a trace output is made to the program
trace memory. The contents of program trace memory can be listed on the
CRT.
Continuous Mode
In continuous execution mode the program is executed until an END instrucĆ
tion is encountered or execution is suspended. When this occurs, the
executed instruction statements are output to the program trace memory.
The contents of the program trace memory can be listed on the CRT.
Controlling/Interrupting Another Instrument
The 372 has a TTL I/O port on the rear panel which provides a TTLĆcompatĆ
ible, 5Ćbit outgoing parallel signal and a1Ćbit incoming IN/OUT function. Only
372Ćbased programming instructions can use this IN/OUT function to control
other instruments connected to the TTL I/O port. The OUTPUT function of
the TTL I/O port can also be controlled via the GPIB.
When the 372 is connected to the controller via the GPIB interface and is in
remote control mode, the instructions can generate a userĆdefined event
that allows the instrument to request service to the controller.
Program editing and trace execution are made on the PROG menu as
shown in Figure 3Ć71, which has the following sections:
H
Control Section - Switches to the Program Edit menu or Program Trace
menu, and selects - Trace Exec mode. In addition, it controls the
execution of programs in combination with the [START] and [STOP]
buttons on the front panel. Three soft buttons are available for program
editing.
H
Program Edit Menu - References or edits the program stored in the
program memory.
H
Program Trace Menu - Allows you to trace program execution in the
Trace Exec mode.
