Cautions on cable connection
Make sure that the power of the device is off when you connect or disconnect a cable. Plugging or unplugging the cable
with the power on may cause malfunction.
10/100 M connector (LAN connector)
Connector for connecting DS-L3 to the PC network (LAN). Use a 10/100 Base-T network
cable.
USB (D) connector
Connector for connecting a PC or printer by a USB cable.
Camera connector
Connected to the DS camera head with a dedicated DS camera cable.
DVI-I connector
Used to connect an external monitor.
Supports both analog RGB input monitors and digital input monitors.
DC IN 12V connector
Use the dedicated AC adapter
CF card slot
Slot for inserting CF (Compact Flash) card. Insert a CF card to this slot when you use a CF
card for saving images.
Note: Be careful not to insert the card in the opposite direction.
USB (H) connectors (2 units)
Connectors for connecting USB devices such as a USB stick and USB mouse.
This connector is also used for connecting Nikon microscopes.
DS-L3 has two USB (H) connectors each of which can have a separate device connected.
Devices mentioned above can be connected to either of the connectors.
EXT I/O connector
Connector for connecting an external device that captures images by the capture signal.
By connecting to the DSC connector of Nikon microscope Ni or Ci, images can be captured
by microscope operation.
Note: If you want to find an external device for yourself, find the technical specification in
“Chapter 19 Capturing from External I/O Devices”.
CF card indicator
Lights up when the CF card is being accessed. Do not remove the CF card or switch off
DS-L3 when this indicator is on.
Eject button
Push this button to take out the CF card in the slot.
