Loading Documents
Loading documents on the document glass

Open the platen cover.

Load the document surface to be scanned downward on the glass.
Align the document with the loading reference on the back of the
left corner.
Align the document on
the back of the left corner.

Carefully close the platen cover to closely fit the document to the
glass.
Precautions when loading documents on the document glass
• Be sure any correction fluid, ink, or stamps on the document are completely dry
before loading.
• Be sure to check there is no document on the ADF.
If a document is left on the ADF, any document on the glass cannot be scanned.
• For a document with high transparency or density, its size may not be
automatically detected.
• When you load a thick document, do not force the platen cover closed.
Doing so may cause a malfunction.
• When the cover is open or slightly open while copying, try not look at the light.
• When you load documents with different widths simultaneously, the areas, such
as those enclosed within dotted lines in the figure below, are scanned.
