Processor Module with Processor Expansion Card
The Processor Module (PM-1) contains the main controlling microprocessor and associated
control logic and memory circuits. The PM-1 is under the control of the IPR Application, which is
stored in flash memory and activated when the system is powered up. Without a Processor
Expansion Card (PEC-1) attached, the PM-1 drives the Inter-Tel CS-5200 system. The PM-1
with a PEC attached drives the Inter-Tel CS-5400 system and forms the Base Server of the CS-
5600 system. The PEC provides 82 additional IP resources and increases the system’s
processing capability.
A PM-1 provides the following system resources:
•
Database back-up battery
: (3.6V, lithium ion, coin cell rechargeable battery) Supports the
database for at least 1 day of continuous system down time. On the PM-1 module, the
LED labeled BAT ALM indicates the charge status of the battery. When the BAT ALM LED
is not lit, the battery is adequately charged. When the LED lights green, the battery is
recharging. For instructions on replacing this battery, see “Replacing the Processor
Module Battery” on
page 5-98
.
•
LED indicators
: Shows main processor operation and module removal indicators.
•
IP Port (100Base-T)
:
An 8-pin jack provides IP connection directly to the system with
CAT5 or CAT5e cable. In addition, the IP Port can be used to load Call Processing
software or software licenses, or to program the database.
•
Software Security and Feature Program
: Supports a software license that enables
system functionality. For details about the software security and feature program, refer to
the
Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide
(part no. 580.8006).
•
Caller ID receivers
: Provides four resources for receiving Caller ID.
The PM-1 supports Call Processing across networks. If the PM-1 is installed on a networked
system (i.e., one with multiple nodes) that includes Inter-Tel Axxess advanced communications
platforms, each Axxess node on the network must be running v7.0 or later for Point-to-Point
Protocol (PPP) networking across T-1s, or version 8.231 or later for VoIP networking. Supports
the United States and European versions of Inter-Tel Advanced Communications Platform
software.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Security is the customer’s responsibility. Inter-Tel is not responsible for network
problems due to security violations involving the IP address exposure of the PM-1. This
includes, but is not limited to, interrupted network service. Inter-Tel recommends that
the customer install the Inter-Tel 5000 platform in a private IP network behind a firewall
or Network Address Translation (NAT) unit.
